Dobbiamo proteggere e utilizzare in maniera sostenibile gli oceani, i mari e le risorse marine, pensando al futuro – ad esempio proibendo la pesca intensiva. Conservare e utilizzare in modo durevole gli oceani, i mari e le risorse marine è infatti indispensabile per uno sviluppo sostenibile: tutte le grandi aree di pesca mondiali soffrono di overfishing, la produzione mondiale del pescato nel 2014 è stata di 93.4 milioni di tonnellate, in Italia il pescato è passato da 611.512 tonnellate del 2005 a 313.818 tonnellate del 2013.
