Nel mondo sono più di 150 milioni i bambini intrappolati in impieghi che mettono a rischio la loro salute e li condannano ad una vita senza svago né istruzione. Tuttavia il problema è più complesso di quanto sembri e la stessa UNICEF stabilisce una netta differenza tra “child labour” - sfruttamento economico in condizioni nocive per il benessere psico-fisico del bambino - e “children's work”, una forma di attività economica leggera e tale da non pregiudicare l'istruzione e la salute del minore.
